Technology has made our lives so much more convenient. It’s so easy to find out how late a restaurant or bar is open. Search engines have made long arguments obsolete. Planning a vacation doesn’t require a travel agent anymore. But all of this convenience comes with a price. It’s now really easy to find information about you. And sometimes you might prefer it if that information was kept private.
After years of fighting same sex marriage bans and court battles, a 5-4 decision in the Supreme Court has made gay marriage legal in the USA. Wow! And since the Supreme Court determined that it was a constitutional right, it will be extremely difficult to overturn. The only ways to change the law would be to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court or to pass a constitutional amendment.
Gay marriage is now legal in the USA. So now we have all sorts of fun questions. Should we get engagement rings? If we do, who should buy them? Should someone propose? If yes, which partner should be the one that pops the question? Is it appropriate for both female partners to get diamond rings? Should both male partners get gold bands? So many questions.
